On 29th September 2025, the NSS Units of Government Degree College Kupwara organized a seminar under the banner of Seva Parv on the theme “Social Responsibility and Civic Duty.” The programme aimed to sensitize students about their vital role in building a responsible society through active citizenship, community service, and ethical conduct.

The seminar was organized under the dynamic leadership of the NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Khalid Bashir, Head of the Department of History, and Dr. Mohammad Abbas Bhat, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences. Both officers also acted as resource people for the seminar, delivering insightful and thought-provoking lectures.

In his address, Dr. Khalid Bashir emphasized that social responsibility is not a choice but a moral obligation for every citizen. He urged students to engage in community-oriented initiatives, cultivate civic virtues, and develop a spirit of empathy and service. He highlighted how NSS provides an ideal platform for channelizing youthful energy towards meaningful social change.

Following him, Dr. Mohammad Abbas Bhat elaborated on the interconnection between civic duty and environmental consciousness. He impressed upon the participants that responsible citizenship entails not only social harmony but also ecological sustainability. His address encouraged students to view civic responsibility in a holistic way, linking ethical citizenship with care for the environment.

The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Darzi, Head of the Department of Commerce, who lauded the efforts of the NSS Program Officers and underlined the importance of seminars of this nature in shaping the moral compass of the young generation. He reiterated that awareness combined with action is the foundation of a vibrant and responsible society.

The formal proceedings of the program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Irshad Ahmad Lone, Head of the Department of Chemistry. He expressed gratitude to the principal, resource persons, faculty members, and participants for making the seminar a success.

The event witnessed active participation from NSS volunteers, faculty, and students. who engaged attentively with the discussions. The seminar thus proved to be an enlightening platform, reinforcing the values of social responsibility, civic duty, and community service, and aligning seamlessly with the spirit of Seva Parv.
